Prof. Dr. Astrid Zech

Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Department of Movement Science and Exercise Physiology

Prof. Dr. Astrid Zech is head of the Department of Movement Science and Exercise Physiology at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. She is a physiotherapist, and holds a university degree in sports science, psychology and pedagogy. After her doctoral degree she worked as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and University of Hamburg and accepted the call for a professorship at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 2014.

Her research projects include the epidemiology and risk factors of injuries in team sports, the evaluation of injury prevention measures, running biomechanics and sensorimotor control, and the modifiability of habitual movement patterns such as footwear vs. barefoot running comparison or the influence of fatigue on postural control.
